These terms cover your use of the CV Rewrite service at cv.the-common-people.com. By using the service and ticking the agreement box at checkout, you accept these terms.
Who we are

What the service is
We produce a rewritten, tailored version of a CV, based on the current CV and job advert you provide and the answers you give us. We use AI to structure and sharpen your own material and to align it to the specific role. You can pick from a range of designs and download your CV as a Word document and a PDF, with an ATS-safe version available. You buy credits in packs and spend one credit each time you download a finished CV.
What the service is not
- We do not invent qualifications, employers, dates or achievements. Our fabrication check removes anything that cannot be traced to what you told us.
- We cannot and do not guarantee that you will be shortlisted, interviewed or hired. That depends on many things outside our control.
- The finished CV is a draft for you to review. You are responsible for checking it is accurate and truthful before you use it.
Your responsibilities
You confirm that the information you provide is truthful and that you have the right to use it. You agree not to use the service for anything unlawful, or to submit someone else's personal data without a proper basis.
Payment
You buy credits in packs through Stripe: £5 for 4 credits, or £10 for 10 credits. As a sole trader we are not currently VAT registered, so no VAT is added. Credits are saved to your account (you sign in with your email) and do not expire. One credit is spent each time you download a finished CV. All file formats of that same CV (Word, PDF and the ATS-safe version) are included in that one credit; you can re-download them for free. Regenerating a new version of your CV and downloading it uses another credit.
Immediate delivery and your right to cancel
Your CV is digital content that is generated and made available to you immediately. When you tick the agreement box, you ask us to start straight away and you acknowledge that, once you download a CV (spending a credit), you lose the 14-day right to cancel that would otherwise apply to that credit. Unused credits keep their normal cancellation right. This is a legal requirement for instant digital products.
Refunds
Because each CV is generated instantly and specifically for you, a credit that has been spent on a downloaded CV is not refundable on a change of mind. If the service genuinely fails to deliver a usable CV, or something goes wrong on our side, contact us and we will put it right or refund the affected credit. Unused credits can be refunded on request within a reasonable period. Nothing here affects your legal rights where the service is not as described.
Intellectual property
The words and information in your CV are yours. The finished document we produce is yours to keep, edit and use however you like. The website, designs and software behind the service remain ours.
Our liability
We provide the service with reasonable care and skill. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for decisions made by employers. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the credits in question. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Your data
How we handle your information is set out in our Privacy Policy. In short: uploaded files are deleted as soon as we have read the text, and we do not keep your CV after your session.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
